Important Concepts of Chronic Foot Joint Pain

Foot injuries vary in pain and severity. If the condition is aggravated and the accident was happened a couple of days ago but everything gets worse, the condition is said to be chronic foot joint pain.

It’s always best to seek immediate medical attention if anything wrong happens to you. Some people neglect these warnings because they like to think that nothing bad will happen to them and in just a few days, their pain will be gone. Let us admire this kind of positive thinking but this should not always be the case because wounds that are not cured immediately may worsen and lead to more serious problems.

Causes and Effects

Chronic Foot Joint Pain

One should give extra protection on the metatarsals, heels, top bone of the midfoot and lower leg outer bone because these parts are the most susceptible to stress fractures. In general, here are some reactants and products of bone ailments.

  • Bunion or bony swelling that usually localizes on the big toe hinders walking because of pain. Wearing tight and uncomfortable shoes will give bunions to your foot.
  • Plantar fasciitis is a pain in the heel which results from damaged tissue under the sole.
  • Aggravated ingrown toenail may infect other parts of the foot.
  • Verruca or sole growth hurts because your weight is acting upon it.
  • Gout is the deposition of excess uric acid in the body and it gives a lot of agonizing pain even if you are already resting.
  • Sprain happens when you go beyond the limitation of your foot and some tissues and bones got damaged terribly but only temporarily.
  • Rare chronic foot joint pain causes are problems in the nerves, pressure on the foot’s ball, high-impact physical activities and diabetes.

Treatment for Chronic Foot Joint Pain

Unless your bone is broken and needs replacement, your chronic foot joint pain can be easily cured even if you just stay at home (although doctor’s advice is still needed). Here are some things you can do to lessen at least the discomfort you feel because of injured foot joints.

  • If you think you sprained or hurt your foot, stop your activity. Examine your foot and assess if it needs medication. Nevertheless, rest for a few hours.
  • The agonizing pain can be relieved if you soak the affected area in a warm water bath and then in a cool bath.
  • Allow your foot to cool down and wrap it with a clean piece of cloth or bandage.
  • Bind your foot in such a way that it will be higher than the level of your heart.
  • Abstain from stressful work and find time for you to heal.
  • Take pain relievers and NSAIDs to ensure speedy recovery.
