After taking medication, you should be able to try other joint pain remedies. Exercise can be intimidating for someone with arthritis, but it is also greatly reduces joint pain. If you feel up to it, try running or jogging to build endurance. Most arthritis patients should stick with low-impact exercises, however, as these are better joint pain remedies. Great joint pain remedies include tai chi, swimming, yoga, and walking. These exercises are gentle on your joints, increase range of motion and balance, strengthen muscles, and keep your body running smoothly. Swimming is one of the best joint pain remedies because the buoyancy of the water relives all stress on your joints. Water resistance also builds muscle tone.
If you like swimming, try hydrotherapy. This treatment involves swimming or relaxing in warm water. Heat relaxes muscles, eases pain, and can also reduce inflammation. Of course, like other joint pain remedies, hydrotherapy will not work well for everyone. Some people respond much better to cold than to heat. If this is the case for you, try cryotherapy instead. In cryotherapy, you will apply ice packs or cold compresses directly to bothersome joints. Cold slows the flow of blood, numbs nerves, reduces inflammation, and can reduce pain. Joint pain remedies come in many different forms. You might have to try a few different treatment options to find one that suits you best.
