Herbal Pain Relief – Get Rid of Pain Naturally

Kathy Martin

For those of us who are allergic to or prefer to avoid traditional medication, finding the right form of herbal pain relief can be tricky. There are a number of products on the market that claim to provide herbal pain relief; however, knowing which herbs work best is key if you want to find the best herbal pain relief product for you. Keep in mind that even natural products can cause allergic reactions. You should research new products thoroughly if you want to avoid side effects. If in doubt, contact your doctor, as some herbal remedies interact negatively with prescription drugs.

Herbal Pain ReliefOregano is one of the most well-known herbal pain relief treatments. In fact, oregano oil contains 28 antioxidants and 31 anti-inflammatory agents, making it an excellent herbal pain relief supplement. Oregano oil effectively relieves pain associated with arthritis, tendonitis, burns, stomachaches, and toothaches. To use oregano oil, simply apply topically or add a few drops to a glass of water. You can also soak a compress in oregano oil and warm water to relieve stiff, achy joints. You should not use oregano oil for herbal pain relief if you are pregnant. Do not give oregano oil to children.

Fish oil also provides effective herbal pain relief. Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation, improve heart health, and improve memory and brain function. Inflammation, and the resulting pain, is one of the key components of many conditions, including arthritis. Joint inflammation causes pain, which causes joint stiffness, which in turn causes even more pain. If you have any sort of arthritis and want to try herbal pain relief instead of medication, try fish oil. Unlike NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or analgesics, fish oil is not addictive and will not cause severe side effects – unless, of course, you are allergic to fish.

Olive oil also makes an effective herbal pain relief treatment. One of the major components of olive oil, oleocanthal, appears to act in much the same way as Ibuprofen and other traditional NSAIDs. You should not rely on olive oil alone for herbal pain relief, however. 50 grams of olive oil contains the same pain-relieving properties as a tenth of an adult dose of Ibuprofen. This alone will not help arthritis or joint pain, but when combined with other herbal pain relief treatments can be a powerful alternative to traditional drugs. There is no reason you should have to deal with the side effects of NSAIDs and analgesics. Try herbal pain relief instead!
