Arthritis Pain – Dealing with Arthritis Pain

One of the common misconceptions about arthritis pain is that it is a condition that affects older people only. Arthritis is the breakdown of the padding and connecting tissue in the joints. Arthritis pain develops when the joints no longer have the lubrication or protection they need to work properly. Over time, bone issues can start to develop and the joints can begin to become deformed and difficult to use. Anyone who is dealing with arthritis pain knows that it is not something that goes away. The pain will be worse some days and tolerable on others. But the best thing that a person suffering from arthritis can do is understand what to expect and find effective ways to manage the pain. Once you learn how to manage pain, you can get on with your life.

When arthritis pain initially sets in, it is at its worst in the morning. The body has been dormant from sleep and the joints are no longer stretched from moving all day long. As your Arthritis Pain advances, you will notice that it can strike at any point in the day. But another thing you will notice about arthritis pain is that it becomes less as you start moving around and stretching. That is why you should incorporate a regimen of light stretching when you wake up in the morning and at various points throughout the day. As your condition advances, the stretching may be more difficult. But as long as you are able to do it, you should try to move as much as possible.

There are several ways that you can manage arthritis pain and get on with your day. One of the most effective ways to deal with arthritis pain is to use physical therapy. A physical therapist will give you stretches and exercises that help keep the joints loose and help you to avoid the progression of arthritis pain. Physical therapy can deal directly with the pain in your joints and massage therapy can help relieve the tension in your joints and reduce your pain. A good massage therapist will know how to manipulate your joints so that the pain is reduced and movement is easier.

When it comes to actually treating arthritis pain, your doctor has a couple of options. As your arthritis pain advances, your doctor may prescribe you pain killers. But this kind of treatment can become addicting, so your doctor will use it but maintain supervision. In some cases, surgery can relieve Arthritis pain but that is only in extreme cases.
