Arthritis Pain Relief Remedies – Therapies That May Work

Sharon Conroy

Many of the arthritis pain relief remedies that have found to be effective in people suffering from arthritis are an alternative to NSAIDs. Most doctors won’t prescribe or even recommend natural, alternative treatments. Many of the conventional arthritis pain relief remedies prescribed by doctors are harsh on the system and have adverse side effects, making them difficult for many people to take on a regular basis. Osteoarthritis is one of the most severe forms of arthritis and affects over 20 million people who must take arthritis pain relief remedies on a daily basis. The disease usually affects the back, knees, hips, and the joints in the fingers.

In some countries, natural arthritis pain relief remedies are used as an alternative to conventional NSAIDs, and are available as prescription drugs after being approved by the regulatory agencies in the respective countries. One of the arthritis pain relief remedies that have been studied is avocado/soybean unsaponifiables. Approved as a prescription drug for arthritis in France, it’s a prescription medication derived from soybean and avocado oils. Patients using this medication have found that they don’t have to rely on NSAIDs or steroids to get relief from pain. This is also sold as one of the arthritis pain relief remedies in other countries as a supplement, and carried in health food stores. The dose that’s prescribed is usually 300 milligrams a day.

As far as arthritis pain relief remedies, avocado/soybean unsaponifiables are proving to be very effective in treating osteoarthritis. Clinical trials have been done on avocado/soybean unsaponifiables, and in 4 independent studies, the conclusion was that they may be so effective that osteoarthritis patients could effectively use the supplement capsules as one of the arthritis pain relief remedies rather than the traditional NSAIDs commonly prescribed.  The supplement has effectively reduced the pain so that it seems to be one of the most promising arthritis pain relief remedies to come on the market in several years.

Of the millions of people who suffer from arthritis, approximately 5 million take glucosamine as one of the arthritis pain relief remedies that provides relief. Used in combination with chondroitin sulfate, this is one of the arthritis pain relief remedies that have been found to repair damaged cartilage. Glucosamine actually creates a molecule that is capable of forming and repairing cartilage. The cartilage is the material that’s between the joints. When it deteriorates, the bones rub together causing pain and inflammation. The effect that chondroitin sulfate seems to have is that it blocks enzymes that break down cartilage.
